What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure whereby hair like incision strokes are created along the eyebrow to attempt to either enhance, reshape or create a natural looking appearance on the brows. The procedure entails the use of a nanoblade, which is dipped into a pigment that has been matched to natural hair color and skin tone. Pigment is deposited into the skin, with the creation of the hair like stroke leaving a feathered outline which will further be filled in the same manner.

What should I do before my appointment?

Leading up to an appointment, you should avoid plucking or waxing your brows. Avoid caffeinated drinks the morning of your appointment. Additionally, you should avoid exfoliators 72 hours before services.  Ex. Skincare products that contains glycolicacid, Retin A, Renova, and alpha hydroxyl acids. No face scrubs or chemical peels at least two weeks prior.

**Most importantly, avoid alcohol, ibuprofen/aspirin, and any medication or vitamins that may thin out your blood 24 hours prior to your appointment.**

Do I get to choose my brow shape?

Your brow shape will be determined using six key measurements on the brow bone based on your face shape and structure. Though these points will be used as a guide, Andrea will not start the procedure until you approve or completely love the outlined shape.

Does it hurt?

Your comfort is very important; and because of this, we will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area before and during your procedure.  On a scale from 1-10, most clients rated the procedure as a “3”.  Also, it has been stated, “…if any pain was felt at all, it feels like eyebrow threading”.

How long is the brow service application?

Generally, an appointment is scheduled for 4 hours; however, the procedure will take up to 50 minutes of that time.  The remaining time is used for pre-numbing, paperwork, consultation, evaluation and any Q&As that are unanswered.  Additional time may be used to ensure you are pleased with your procedure.

Who’s not an ideal client?

Clients prone to keloid scarring.

Clients with pre-existing brow tattoos.

Clients with excessively oily skin, larger pores, thicker skin and eyebrow keratosis can negatively affect the absorption of the pigment and therefore are not great candidates for the semi-permanent eyebrow procedures.

** If Andrea has to cancel your appointment due to any of these reasons the client is still responsible to pay for appointment . Retaining fees are non-refundable **

How often will I need to return for a touch-up?

When strokes are placed extremely close, the strokes will mend together creating a hazy shadow instead of separate strokes when healed.  As an alternative, Andrea will moderately apply your initial strokes, then allow 6-8 weeks for them to heal.  Any time within the 6-8 weeks period, she will apply more strokes to achieve the desired look.  The more frequent your visits are, the fuller your brows will appear.

How long will the semi-permanent brows last?

Skin types, age and daily activity play a major role in the longevity of your semi-permanent brows application.  Most eyebrows application will last 8-12 months, while others may last longer. Please note that since the pigment is not implanted as deep as a traditional tattoo, your pigment will fade gradually until it eventually fades away.  For your brows application to remain, you need to schedule a touch-up appointment every 8-12 months.
